And with many other words John exhorted the people and
preached the Good News to them....
When all the other people were being baptized, Jesus was
baptized too. And as He was praying, heaven was opened
and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in bodily form
like a dove. And a voice came from heaven:
"You are my Son, whom I love; with You I am well pleased."
Luke 3: 18, 21,22
This tutorial was written by me on December 14th, 2012. Any resemblance to any other tutorial or tag is unintentional and is pure coincidence. Please do not claim my work as your own and do not post to any other website, blog or forum without permission from me. It is written with the assumption that you have a working knowledge of PSP and its components. It was written for PSP 9.
I recommend that you read through this or any tutorial you are attempting before starting it so you will know what to expect and how to get organized.
As with any of my tutorials when a plugin is required, change only the settings I recommend and leave the others on the default settings.
What you will need to accomplish this tutorial is the beautiful art of The Vintage Angel™ which you can purchase at Creative Design Outlet HERE along with the rest of her amazing tubes. This lovely scrap by the incomparable Hungry Hill called Winterglow which can also be purchased at Creative Design Outlet HERE. Please support the arts and DO NOT use Jessica Galbreth's tubes without a license and certainly do not share her tubes or this kit. Animation is by the talented Lovey, you can find her site HERE with tons of amazing anis to use...for ease in finding I uploaded it HERE for you. You will need the mist I included HERE. I got this in one of my groups a long time ago...if this is your image and you would like credit, please let me know so I can credit you here. Plugins are Alien Skin Eye Candy 5/Impact and Xero. Font is Asrafel and can be downloaded HERE.
Let's begin...
First start a new 700 x 700 white image which we will resize in the end. Copy and paste the Circle element into your new canvas. Then copy and paste paper 1 beneath the circle...use your Eraser tool to erase the paper outside the circle. Then copy and paste the mist above this paper, move it to the right where the tree is inside the right edge of the circle and again use your Eraser tool to erase the part of the mist outside the circle. Set the Blend mode for this layer to Luminance.
NOTE: If you find that your work is getting tight to the edges of your canvas, you can resize while you're working by going to Image/Canvas Size. Click the middle diamond shape in the Placement area and it will resize your canvas evenly all the way around.
For the dove go to Effects/Plugins/Xero/Radiance and use these settings:
Then to bring out the blue in the dove, colorize your snowflakes in the background by going to Adjust/Hue & Saturation/Colorize and use these settings:
For the awesome shadows I cast off the deer, go to Effects/Plugins/Alien Skin Eye Candy 5/Impact/Perspective Shadow and use these settings:
This plugin may require a little practice. There are just a couple of important things to remember when shadowing is to attempt to make your shadows appear natural and to watch closely all the areas of whatever you're shadowing. You can view all the areas by moving the little red box around at the top of the window of this plugin...
(You can tweak your shadows by moving the nodes around in the preview window. To move one node at a time hold down your CTRL key. You can move the whole shadow by holding down your right mouse button and clicking in the middle of the shadow. It's very important to think about how a shadow would be cast realistically and how dark or how light it should be. This plugin is one of my favorites and one I use with nearly every single one of my tags.)
Example of where the nodes should be...
Now add your name and go to Effects/Plugins/Alien Skin Eye Candy 5/Impact/Chrome and use these settings:
Duplicate it and colorize it using the same settings you did above. Then go to Selections/Select All/Selections/Float/Selections/Defloat/Selections/Modify/Contract and contract by 2 by setting the number of pixels to 2. Now go back to Selections/Invert and hit delete once. Merge the two name layers together and add a drop shadow.
Add your copyright taking care that it is legal and legible...for the © symbol, hold down your ALT key and type in 0169, for the ™ symbol, hold down your ALT key and type 0153.
Now we'll animate and finish up...
In your layer palette hide your name layer and the dove and merge visible. Open Animation Shop (AS) and go back to PSP. Hold down CTRL + SHIFT and hit C to copy merged....back to AS and hit CTRL + v to paste a new animation. Open the Lovey animation and delete her copyright layer and you will note that there are 40 frames, so we need 40 frames on our animation. Click on the top of you animation and go down to Duplicate Selected...repeat this until you have 40 frames. If you duplicate too many frames, simply click on any extra frames and hit delete to get rid of them. Go to Edit/Select All and let's resize so Lovey's animation fits properly. Hit SHIFT + s and your resize window will pop up...resize to 650 x 650...you can resize further when we're done.
Be sure all of your frames are selected on both your animation and on Lovey's animation...and be sure you are on the first frame of both by dragging the 'slider' bar all the way to the left...carefully drag the first frame of Lovey's animation into the first frame of your animation.
Go back to PSP, hide the layers you merged together and unhide your name layer and the dove layer...hold down CTRL + SHIFT and hit C to copy merged and go back to AS. Hold down CTRL and hit v to paste a new animation, resize to 650 x 650 and duplicate for 40 frames. Again be sure you are on the first frame of the new ani you just pasted and the one you worked on previously and that all frames are selected. Carefully drag the first frame of the new ani into the previously worked ani's first frame. Resize to fit your needs, check your work...View/Animation...if you're happy, save as a .gif and you're done.
