Ebony & Ivory FTU Animated

Ebony and Ivory live together in perfect harmony
Side by side on my piano keyboard, O Lord, why don't we?
We all know that people are the same where ever we go
There is good and bad in everyone
We learn to live, we learn to give
Each other what we need to survive, together alive.

This tutorial was written by me on November 10th, 2012. Any resemblance to any other tutorial or tag is unintentional and is pure coincidence. Please do not claim my work as your own and do not post to any other website, blog or forum without permission from me. It is written with the assumption that you have a working knowledge of PSP and its components. It was written for PSP 9.

I recommend that you read through this or any tutorial you are attempting before starting it so you will know what to expect and how to get organized.

What you will need to accomplish this tutorial is the stunning art of Barbara Jensen.  This is one of her new releases for November which you can purchase on her blog HERE.  Please support the arts and DO NOT use Barb's tubes without a license and certainly don't share.  Scrap is free to use and it's by me.  Thought I'd try my hand at scrapping.  You can find the link for it on my blog HERE.  Plugins are Alien Skin Eye Candy 5/Impact, Eye Candy 4000, Xenofex 2 and Xero.  Font is A&S Sarsaparillo EX you can download HERE.

Let's get started...

But first, we need to get your brushes into PSP for use.  It's just a couple easy steps.  Open the files I provided into PSP.  They're in .png format, you can also use .jpegs.  For each brush go to File/Export/Custom Brush.  Name your brush and click Ok and it's installed in PSP ready for use.

Start a new 700 x 700 white image which we will resize in the end.  Copy and paste frame 1 into your new canvas and resize it 60% then give it a slight drop shadow.  Copy and paste pp4 below your frame, resize it 60% and then use your Raster Deform tool to drag the corners in to fit the paper into your frame.

Copy and paste the feather element below your paper and resize it 80%, duplicate it and put one on each side of your frame.  The middle of your feather should be close to the outside edge of the frame but not quite on it.

Copy and paste the glitter element over the feathers, duplicate and flip it, duplicate mirror, duplicate and flip again so that you have glitter on all four corners of your frame.

Now, copy and paste Doodle 3 element above your background layer, resize it 80% and flip it.  Place it to the left of your frame and duplicate and mirror.  Give each a slight drop shadow.

At this point, copy and paste the close up tube above your paper, duplicate it and drag the duplicate above your frame.  Use your eraser tool and erase the bottom portion of your tube to fit her into the frame.  Then on the duplicate layer go to Effects/Plugins/Xero/Radiance and use these settings:

Now copy and paste the remaining elements.  You can use my image as a reference for size and placement...don't forget your drop shadows.

Now add your name in black and duplicate it.  Go back to the original name layer and then go to Effects/Plugins/Eye Candy 4000/Gradient Glow and use these settings:

Then go to Effects/Plugins/Alien Skin Eye Candy 5/Impact/Chrome and use these settings:

Go to Adjust/Hue & Saturation/Colorize and use these settings:

Duplicate twice, hide the two new duplicates in your layer palette and select the original, Now go to Effects/Plugins/Xenofex 2/Constellation and use these settings:

Hide the original, select and unhide the middle layer you applied the chrome to and apply the same Constellation effect only hit Random Seed once, repeat for the remaining layer.

Go back to the original name layer with the Constellation effect, make sure it's unhidden and selected and all others of these layers are hidden.  On this original layer go to Effects/Plugins/Eye Candy 4000/Corona and use these settings:

Apply this Corona to all the name layers with the Constellation effect.  Be sure you DO NOT MOVE any of these name layers.

Add your copyright, taking care that it is legal and legible and we will animate.

Open Animation Shop (AS)...File/Jasc Software Products/Launch Animation Shop and go back to PSP.  In your layer palette make sure the two top name layers with the Xenofex effect are hidden.  Hold down CTRL + SHIFT and hit C to copy merged and go over to AS.  Hit CTRL + v to paste new animation and go back to PSP.  Hide the original name layer with the Xenofex effect and unhide the middle layer.  Hold down CTRL + SHIFT and hit C to copy merged and go back to AS.  This time hold down CTRL + SHIFT and hit L to paste after current frame.  Repeat for the last layer.

Check your animation....View/Animation.  If you're happy, resize it to fit your need and save as a .gif and  you're done.

Thank you for trying my tutorial, I so hope you had fun with it and maybe even learned something to hone your PSP skills.  Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or issues with any of my tutorials.

Blessings,

Trese
