Explosive Love PTU Animated

Explosive Love

This tutorial was written by me on September 9th, 2012. Any resemblance to any other tutorial or tag is unintentional and is pure coincidence. Please do not claim my work as your own and do not post to any other website, blog or forum without permission from me. It is written with the assumption that you have a working knowledge of PSP and its components. It was written for PSP 9.

I recommend that you read through this or any tutorial you are attempting before starting it so you will know what to expect and how to get organized.

As with any of my tutorials when a plugin is required, change only the settings I recommend and leave the others on the default settings.

What you will need to accomplish this tutorial is the incomparable beautiful art of Barbara Jensen.  You can purchase her tubes on her site HERE.  This astonishing kit by Designs by Stina named How Deep Is Your Love which you can purchase at Designer Scraps HERE.  Animation is the creation of Lovey which you can download HERE from her blog.  She has tons of wonderful anis there, you'll love her blog.  Leave her some love if you download and please tell her I sent you.  Mask is one of mine you will find right here on this blog...TreseMask0042.  Just search the blog archive.  Plugins are Alien Skin Eye Candy 5/Impact, Eye Candy 4000, and Xero.  Font is Globus Regular you can find for download HERE.

Let's do this...

First start a 700 x 700 new white image.  We'll resize in the end.  Copy and paste the butterfly05 into your new canvas, resize it 25% twice.  Place it to bottom of your canvas and then duplicate and flip it.  Separate the two enough to make it the size of your frame...use my image as a reference.  Merge the two butterfly layers together and then duplicate them, rotate the duplicated layer 90 degrees to the left or the right and line up the four butterflies to form a diamond shape and then hide the background layer and merge Visible layers.  Duplicate once more, rotate 45 degrees left or right, doesn't matter...then resize 70%.  Merge all the butterfly layers together.  Then copy and paste the Ribbon04 above your background layer, resize it 25% twice and use your Raster Deform tool to rotate it slightly to the left, place it to the top left of the butterflies, duplicate and mirror it then duplicate and flip....duplicate and mirror.  Your work so far should look something like this...

Give your newly made frame a drop shadow something like this...

Now below your frame copy and paste paper of choice, I used paper04.  Resize it 15% and then use your eraser brush to erase any areas of the paper outside your frame.

Copy and paste your tube on the top of your paper, resize it 125% and fit it into your frame, then duplicate it and drag the duplicate on top of your frame...erase the areas of both tubes which are outside your frame.  On the top tube go to Adjust/Automatic Saturation Enhancement and use these settings:

Now go to Effects/Plugins/Alien Skin Eye Candy 5/Impact/Perspective
Shadow and use these settings:

This plugin may require a little practice.  There are just a couple of important things to remember when shadowing is to attempt to make your shadows appear natural and to watch closely all the areas of whatever you're shadowing.  You can view all the areas by moving the little red box around at the top of the window of this plugin...

(You can tweak your shadows by moving the nodes around in the preview window. To move one node at a time hold down your CTRL key. You can move the whole shadow by holding down your right mouse button and clicking in the middle of the shadow.  It's very important to think about how a shadow would be cast realistically and how dark or how light it should be. This plugin is one of my favorites and one I use with nearly every single one of my tags.)

Using my image as a reference for size and placement begin to copy and paste the rest of your elements into your canvas.  For precise sizing use your Raster Deform tool, it also prevents the distortion that takes place a lot of times when resizing in percentages.  Don't forget to give each element a drop shadow.

Once you get all your elements placed and shadowed copy and paste paper03 above your background layer, resize about 15% and apply your mask.  You can always use your Raster Deform tool to resize your mask as well.

Now add your name and then go to Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel and use these settings:

Then go to Effects/Plugins/Eye Candy 4000/Gradient Glow and use these settings:

Basic Tab

Color Tab

Then go to Effects/Plugins/Eye Candy 4000/Corona and use these settings:

Add your copyright and then we'll animate.  Be sure that it is legal and legible.  For a neat and professional-looking copyright I use pixel, copy or ceriph fonts.  You can google and find literally hundreds of these fonts.  Most of them work best at size 6 with your antialias set to off...it prevents the font from pixelating.  Note:  for crisp edges on your fonts for your name, wordart, etc set your Antialias to Sharp.

Hide your name and then hold down CTRL + SHIFT + C to copy merged and then open Animation Shop (AS) by going to File/Jasc Software Products/Launch Animation Shop.  Once it's open hit CTRL + v to paste new animation.  Open Lovey's animation in AS.  Take note that it has 30 frames, therefore your animation needs thirty frames as well. Right click on top of your animation window and go down to Duplicate Selected.  Do this as many times as needed to get 30 frames.  If you duplicate to many frames just click on the frame and hit delete.

Now, very important step here, actually a couple.  On Lovey's animation go to Edit/Select All, Edit/Copy and then hit CTRL + v a couple of times.  That way you have an extra or two if you need them.  On your newly created animation do the same to select all frames and be sure on both animations that the slider bar at the bottom of the animations is all the way to the left so you are on the first frame of each.

Now click and hold down your mouse key in the first frame of Lovey's animation and drag it into the first frame of your animation...DO NOT LET GO until you have the animation where you want it.  Check your work by going to View/Animation.  If it is where you want it go back to PSP.  In your layer palette select the layer that is your name and then on your canvas right click and go down to Copy.  Go back to AS and hit CTRL + v to paste a new animation.  Just as you did before duplicate this frame for  30 frames.  Again, very important, be sure slider bar is all the way to the left and you are on the first frame of both your name and the animation you dragged Lovey's animation into.  Drag your name into your work on top of the animation...see my image.  View/Animation to check your work.

If you're happy, resize to fit your needs, save as a .gif and you're done.

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and maybe learned something to help hone your skills. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you have about any of my tutorials. And please let me know of broken links, etc.
