Happy New Year 2013 PTU Animated

Don't weep for yesterday
It is over...
Smile from your heart,
for God has given you a brand new year.
Make the most of it...
Happy New Year!

This tutorial was written by me on December 28th, 2012. Any resemblance to any other tutorial or tag is unintentional and is pure coincidencePlease do not claim my work as your own and do not post to any other website, blog or forum without permission from me. It is written with the assumption that you have a working knowledge of PSP and its components. It was written for PSP 9.

recommend that you read through this or any tutorial you are attempting before starting it so you will know what to expect and how to get organized.

As with any of my tutorials when a plugin is required, change only the settings I recommend and leave the others on the default settings.

What you will need to accomplish this tutorial is the beautiful art of Sonia Roji which you can purchase from Creative Design Outlet HERE along with the rest of her amazing tubes.  This kit is a collab by the designers at CDO which you can get free if you purchase two scraps from CDO from now until December 31st.  Please support the arts and do not use Sonia's tubes without a license and certainly do not share her tubes or this kit...The mask is one of mine and can be found right here on this blog...it's Trese Mask 0081.  Plugins are Alien Skin Eye Candy 5/Impact, Xenofex 2 and Eye Candy 4000.  The font is called Romance Fatal 2.00 and can be found HERE.

Let's do this...

Begin by starting a new 700 x 700 white image which we will resize in the end.  Then copy and paste f1 from Abstract's portion of the kit.  Resize it 75% and give it a slight drop shadow.  Copy and paste your tube...the closeup tube...beneath your stars, resize it 75% and move it down a ways on your canvas.  Go to Adjust/Hue & Saturation/Colorize and use these settings:

Note:  You are seeing the wordart above because that's where I saved my screen image, but we are going to colorize everything that needs colorizing using these settings including our tube.

Now duplicate your tube and drag the duplicate above the stars element.  Using your eraser tool, erase the lower portions of the tube to fit her into the stars which is now our frame.  Be sure you erase the same portions of the original tube as well.

For the background inside the stars I used two different papers...paper 2 of Dee's portion and paper 4 of Chichi's.  I also used paper 2 of Dee's for my mask.  You can go ahead and paste that paper above your background and apply your mask.  Remember you can always use your Raster Deform tool for precise sizing..or you can resize in percentages.

Using my image as a reference, copy and paste the elements into your canvas.  Don't forget to give them drop shadows.  For the elements I wanted to have more depth I used a Perspective Shadow...go to Effects/Plugins/Alien Skin Eye Candy 5/Impact/Perspective Shadow and use these settings:

This plugin may require a little practice.  There are just a couple of important things to remember when shadowing is to attempt to make your shadows appear natural and to watch closely all the areas of whatever you're shadowing.  You can view all the areas by moving the little red box around at the top of the window of this plugin...

(You can tweak your shadows by moving the nodes around in the preview window. To move one node at a time hold down your CTRL key. You can move the whole shadow by holding down your right mouse button and clicking in the middle of the shadow.  It's very important to think about how a shadow would be cast realistically and how dark or how light it should be. This plugin is one of my favorites and one I use with nearly every single one of my tags.)

For the stars by Hungry Hill and the frame stars and the wordart to help them further stand out, after my drop shadow I applied a Corona...go to Effects/Plugins/Eye Candy 4000/Corona and use these settings:

For the clock element in Carita's portion of the kit, give it the above Corona and then set the Blend Mode to Soft Light.

For the animation on 2013, paste it where you want it and do not move again.  Duplicate it twice, then go back to the original layer and go to Selections/Select All...Selections/Float...Selections/Defloat...Selections/Modify/Contract and set at 7.  Then go to Effects/Xenofex 2/Constellation and use these settings:

Select the middle 2013 layer in your layer palette and go to Effects/Constellation and use the same settings only hit the Random Seed button once...repeat for the last layer.

Now add your name giving it a slight drop shadow and then add your copyright taking care that it is legal and legible and we will animate and finish up...

Open Animation Shop (AS) and then go back to PSP.  Be sure the two top layers of 2013 are hidden in your layer palette and the original bottom layer is visible and then hold down CTRL + SHIFT and hit C to copy merged and go back over to AS.  Hold down CTRL and hit v to paste a new animation and go back to PSP.  Hide the original 2013 layer in your layer palette and unhide the middle layer...hold down CTRL + SHIFT and hit C to copy merged..back to AS...this time hold down CTRL + SHIFT and hit L to paste after current frame...repeat for the remaining 2013 layer.  View your work...View/Animation...resize and save as a .gif and you're done.

Thank you for trying my tutorial, I hope you had fun and maybe learned something to hone your PSP skills.  Have a great new year..

Blessings,

Trese
