This tutorial was written by me on July 18th, 2012. Any resemblance to any other tutorial or tag is unintentional and is pure coincidence. It is written with the assumption that you have a working knowledge of PSP and its components. It was written for PSP X.
I recommend that you read through this or any tutorial you are attempting before starting it so you will know what to expect and how to get organized.
As with any of my tutorials when a plugin is required, change only the settings I recommend and leave the others on the default settings.
What you will need to accomplish this tutorial is this awesome art by Daniel Esparza that can be purchased at Creative Design Outlet HERE along with his other tubes. Please support the arts and DO NOT use his tubes without a license. There is no scrap, this is considered an 'old school' tutorial. We are going to use preset shapes, brushes, a mask and plugins to accomplish this tag. You can download the brushes HERE and HERE. I will show you how to install these before we start. Plugins Eye Candy 4000, Alien Skin Xenofex 2 and Xero. Mask is one I got somewhere forever ago and not sure where, if this is your mask please let me know so I can credit you here. You can download the mask from my Mediafire at present HERE. Fonts are Arial Black which can be found HERE for download and Arizonia which can be downloaded HERE.
Let's install your brushes...it's very simple...
Open the brushes I've provided into PSP, they are in .png format. You can install brushes in .jpeg format as well. Once opened go to File/Export/Custom Brush...(brushes cannot be larger than 500 x 500 pixels) Name the brush and save and it's ready to use...easy peasy hunh?
Now let's begin...
To keep confusion down, name your layers as you go...
First open your tube into PSP and start a 700 x 700 white image. We'll resize later. Paste your tube into the middle of your canvas. Draw a rectangle beneath her in the darkest blue in her shirt. Use my image as a reference for size and placement. Name this layer 'small top rectangle.'
Directly beneath this preset rectangle draw a white rectangle as a backing. Name this layer 'backing for sm top rect.' Beneath the white backing draw a larger purple rectangle. ( Select a purple from your tube and name this layer 'Top Rectangle') Draw a white rectangular backing for this purple rectangle as well. (for the backing layers simply add backing for...) Beneath this white backing draw two green vertical rectangles on both sides (select a green from her shorts and name these layers 'right and left green rectangles')...again, use my image as a reference for size and placement. Using your magic wand select the left rectangle and use the Alechemy brush...first paint a blue at the top and the bottom and then with the same brush paint a white. Now go to Selections/Select none. Using your magic wand again select the right green rectangle and repeat the process. Once your painting is finished draw a white background for each of the green rectangles...remember to name them.
Now above your background layer add a new raster layer and flood fill with the same dark blue you used with the first rectangle drawn. Resize by 90% and apply your mask...175. Then go to Adjust/Blur/Radial Blur and use these settings:
Above your mask layer draw a purple preset vertical rectangle...use my image for size and placement and then draw a white backing for this rectangle as before.
I hope you are naming your layers as you go...Above the purple vertical rectangle draw a large tan colored square and add a white background for it.
Above the white background for your tan square draw a tan and a blue thick line as well as a larger green line...see my image.
Confused yet? Above the tan square draw a very thin purple line, duplicate it twice and align them offset to one another...again refer to my image. Merge these three lines together and duplicate and mirror them. In your layer palette go over to Blend mode and set both sets of these lines to Hard Light.
Above these purple thin lines draw a very thin white line duplicate it and place one slightly below the other...Draw this line to extend somewhat over the green horizontal line drawn previously...see my image. Merge the two thin white lines together and in Blend Mode set the mode to Difference.
Next on the bottom of your palette above the back purple rectangle draw three smaller lines of various colors in your tube in sort of a reverse pyramid...see image below
Add backing for these...now at this point go to each of your white backing layers and add a slight drop shadow...
Wordart...
Using Arial Black write out the word PREPPY and use the dark blue we've been using for rectangles. Go up to Selections/Select All/Selections/Float/Selections/Defloat and then begin applying different colors from your palette using the Preppy Chic brush I supplied. Once you're done painting go back to Selections/Select none.
Now go to Effects/Plugins/Eye Candy 4000/Gradient Glow and use these settings:
Add a slight drop shadow...
Now use the Arizonia font for the word Chic and your name...add the same drop shadow.
Now add your copyright, taking care that it is legal and legible and we will get to the animation.
Animation...
In your layer palette select the Back Purple Rectangle and duplicate it twice. Hide the two duplicates in your palette. Now in your layer palette go to the Top Purple Rectangle and duplicate it twice again hiding the two duplicates. You can start with either the top or the back, it doesn't matter. But select the original purple rectangle in your palette and go to Effects/Plugins/Alien Skin Xenofex 2/Constellation and use these settings:
Hide the original purple rectangle you started with and unhide the middle duplicate, go back to Effects/Plugins/Alien Skin Xenofex 2/Constellation and use the same settings only hit the Random Seed button once. Repeat for the last duplicate layer. Go to the other original Purple Rectangle
and repeat this process.
Now open Animation Shop and go back to PSP. Now in your layer palette hide both sets of duplicated purple rectangles and be sure your originals are unhid. Hold down CTRL+Shift+C to copy merged and go to Animation Shop and hit CTRL + v to paste new animation and then back to PSP. Hide the original purple rectangle layers and unhid the middle hidden layers. Copy merged as you did above and then go back to Animation Shop. This time hit CTRL + Shift + L to paste after current frame...repeat the process for the last hidden layer. In Animation Shop resize your animation to fit your needs, save as a .gif and you're done.
