Somber Valentine

SOMBER VALENTINE

This tutorial was written by me on January 20, 2012. Any resemblance to any other tutorial is pure coincidence. Please do not claim my work as your own and certainly do not post my work on any other website, blog, forum, etc without permission from me. You can email me at tresetags@gmail.com or find me on Facebook. I wrote this with the assumption that you have a working knowledge of PSP and it's components. I personally use PSP 9, but this should be compatible with most versions.

What you will need to accomplish this tutorial is this fabulous kit by Hungry Hill named I Do Love Hugs which you can find at Creative Design Outlet (CDO) Store HERE. Thank you Alison for your amazing work. You will also need this mask by Weescotslass Creations, WSL_Mask226, found along with all her other beautiful masks HERE. Eye Candy 4000. Tube of choice, I used the stunning artwork of Jennifer Janesko which can also be found at Creative Design Outlet HERE. Please help prevent piracy and do not use Jennifer's or any other artist's tubes without a license for them. And font of choice, I used a free font called Adorable, you can download it HERE.

If you're ready, we'll get started.

Open a 750 x 750 new image in PSP...you can resize later. Next, open your elements in PSP. Copy and paste the lace-edging into your new image. Use your Raster-Deform tool to resize to about 80% of the canvas size. Or simply resize by 80%. I have found that if I use my Raster-Deform tool it tends to not distort my tubes whereas most of the time just resizing will.

Now you are going to copy & paste paper 3 below the lace-edging layer. Resize to 75%. Now select your eraser tool and set the size to 35%, leave the rest of the settings to default settings and you should use the round eraser. Using my image as a reference, erase the paper from the outside the the middle part of the lace-edging.

Okay, now beneath the paper 3 layer, add a layer and flood fill it with #293a1f, it's the dark green in the flower arrangements leaves. Resize this layer to 85% and as you done previously with paper 3, erase the outer edges of this layer from the lace-edging's outer edges.

Next you will add a layer beneath the dark green layer and flood fill with the same dark green #293a1f, resize to 90% and apply mask WSL_Mask226.

Now on top of the lace-edging layer, which should be your top layer, copy and paste the frame 1. Use your Raster-Deform tool to resize this frame to fit inside the inner frame of the lace-edging. Copy and paste your tube beneath the frame and resize to fit.

Using my image as a reference copy and paste the rest of your elements and arrange on your canvas. Don't forget to give each element a slight drop shadow for depth. For the ribbon in my arrangement I simply put a ribbon beneath the flowers and one on top of them and used my eraser to remove parts of the ribbon to look like it intertwines through the flowers.

For your name, pick a pink color from within the flower arrangements. Make it a Raster layer, then go to Effects, Eye Candy 4000/Gradient Glow and use these settings: Basic Tab...Glow Width 3.0, Soft Corners 100, Overall Opacity 100. Color Tab select Black Halo, set both colors to brown and Opacity at 100. Then go back up to Effects/Eye Candy 4000/Corona and use these settings: Glow Width 5.0, Flare size 14, Stretch 100, Waver 23, Blur 0, Overall Opacity 100, Color same brown as used with Gradient Glow and check Draw Outside Selection. Add a brown drop shadow at about 60% with a 12% Blur.

Add your copyright being sure it's legible. Resize your image to fit your needs and you're done.

I've Had the Flu

Hello everyone, first, I'd like to thank you for your wonderful comments on my work. I am honored that you like what I do. I will get some more stuff done today for ya.

I've been sick with the flu and been in a pretty bad state for a few days, not to mention the loss of work is going to be an inconvenience for a bit. But can't help being sick. I thank my doctor for that. I went for a checkup last Tuesday and he gave me a pneumonia shot and it set off the flu. I'll never do that again. At any rate, feeling so much better today. I am thinking that the 11 hours of sleep I got last night is most likely that contributing factor.

Thank you for coming back to my blog over and over and using my little tidbits in your creations. I'd really love to see what you do with them, that's my only request in using them, please shoot me an email at tresetags@gmail.com and show me your wonder creations...who knows I may highlight your work on my blog...uh hunh.

No Regrets Tut

It seems like everyone is getting tattoos these days or is planning on getting one. If you are considering a tattoo for yourself, you should do your research and think hard before accepting the needle. DO NOT get a tattoo just because it's the "in" thing to do...tattoos are for life. Please, Think before you ink!

This tutorial was written by me on April 24, 2011. Any resemblance to any other tutorial is pure coincidence. Please DO NOT claim this tutorial as your own or post it to any other blog or website without prior permission from me. It was written in PSP 9, but should be compatible with any other version. It was written with the assumption that you have a working knowledge of PSP and it's components.

What you will need to accomplish this tutorial besides Paint Shop Pro, of course, is this very cool scrapkit by Purple called Tattoos & Piercings, which you can find on her blog HERE. Thanks girl for the use of this amazing kit. You're going to need tube of choice. I used an exclusive we received for Tagger's Den from the amazing Arthur Crowe. You can purchase his tubes HERE at PSP Tubes Emporium. Please DO NOT use his tubes without a license. Thank you Arthur for this amazing exclusive for the Den. You're going to need the plugins Eye Candy 4000 and Xero. The Mask I used is WSL_Mask 260, you can find her masks on her blog HERE. We thank you for your generosity maam. Font I used for the wordart is AL Professor, it's a pay font, and for my name I used Tattoo Lettering Black. You can find a ton of free ones HERE.

Okay, let's get started, you ready?

Place your mask in your PSP mask folder. Install your plugins. Open PSP and gather your tubes and elements to use. You can refer to my tag as a reference for which elements you will need. Minimize your tube and elements.

Open a new white image 700 x 700. We will resize at the end of this tutorial. Add a new layer and flood fill with black. Resize this layer by 90%. (short cut for resizing: Hit Shift and S at the same time and your resize window will come up.) Apply the mask and group the mask layers.

NOTE: You will save yourself a lot of grief if you will get in the habit of renaming all your layers.

Place your elements and tube into your canvas. Again, you can use my tag as a reference for placement. And let me introduce you to my best friend the Raster Deform Tool which I use to resize most of the time. I find that you get less distortion with it. You will need to make a copy of your tube and place it under the frame. Use the raster deform tool to blow up your tube and center her bottom into the frame. In the layer pallette, select the frame layer. With the magic wand, click inside the frame. Go to Selection, Modify, Expand and expand by 8. Go back to the blown up tube layer and select it. Go back up to Selections, Invert and hit delete. On this same layer you will now go to Effects, Xero, Radiance and use these settings:

Strangeness = 30

Charm = 67

Truth = 128

Beauty = 255

Now, just below this layer you will need to add a black background using the Elipse Tool. Convert to Raster Layer. Take the Opacity of the layer down to 58 and set Blend Mode to Hard Light.

Copy and paste your tube into the canvas and use the same settings in Xero used previously for her booty...lol. Add slight drop shadows to all your elements. Add your wordart and your name and DON'T FORGET your copyright info.

Now we're ready to do the fun part...the animations.

Be sure you have placed the neon tattoo sign where you want it to stay! In your layer palette, duplicate this layer three times for a total of four layers. Number the layers. Leave layer number 1 as is, select layer number 2 and then go to Effects, Eye Candy 4000, Corona and use these settings:

Glow Width = 10

Flare Size = 15

Waver = 25

Blur = 0

Overall Opacity = 100

Color = #257ebf

check Draw Outside Selection.

For the two remaining layers you will simply increase the Glow Width by 5 and hit Random Seed once.

Open Animation Shop. Go back to PSP. Be sure that the bottom three of the neon sign layers are closed. Hit Control+Shift+C to copy merged. Go back to Animation Shop and hit Control+V to paste a new animation. Back to PSP. Close the number 1 neon sign layer and open the number 2 neon sign layer. Hit Control+Shift+C to copy merged and then go back to Animation Shop. This time you will hit Control+Shift+L to paste after current frame. Do this for the remaining two neon sign layers.

In animation shop you will resize your image to fit your needs and save as a .gif. And then we are done.

Just to let you all know about my sporatic posts. I've had a major life change and haven't had a lot of time to do what I love the most, but things are due to change soon for the better and I will be around more. Going through a divorce...don't be sorry, I'm not...hehe. Started a new career in truck driving...yes truck driving. Most days I love it. Love the traveling and the challenges, but I work flatbed, which means hands on freight which I have to secure and/or tarp. It's the hardest work I've ever done. I've met someone who appears to be the most amazing man I've ever met, he owns his own truck and wants me to come to work with him and do his load boards and paperwork and get out of the hard labor stuff. I think I will take the chance, I believe he's worth it. Can't get anywhere without taking chances can we? So, wish me luck and look for new tuts and tags coming soon.

The Witching Hour

The Witching Hour is the time when supernatural creatures such as witches, demons and ghosts are thought to be at their most powerful, and black magic at its most effective. The hour is typically midnight. The William Shakespeare quote in this tag is referring to this time of night. The hour before midnight, 11pm, is used for the practice of witchcraft. I DO NOT support witchcraft or any of the black arts. I just enjoy halloween and do a lot of research on the subject. For more information on the subject, you can google it...this is what I do.

I wrote it assuming that you have a working knowledge of PSP and it's components.

What you will need to accomplish this tutorial: This beautiful scrapkit by Foxy's Designz called Midnight Dreams that you can purchase HERE at her store Digi Fox's Studio. Thank you Foxy for the use of this kit. Template by Creative Misfits Creations, Aqua-Abstract #3, that you can find HERE. Thank you ladies for your talents and y our generosity. Several plugins: Xero, Eye Candy 5-Impact, Eye Candy 4000 (optional) and dsb flux. Tube of choice, I used the amazing artwork of Ismael Rac that can be purchased at his store HERE. Please do not use his tubes without a license. You will need some star brushes. Font of choice, I used Albemerle Swash which can be downloaded HERE. For the quote I used a pixel font. Any pixel font will do. You can find some HERE.

Let's get started.

With PSP open, open your template, tube (open the close-up tube as well) and the elements you will use from the scrapkit. You can use my image as a reference for the elements I used. Duplicate your template (Ctrl + D) and close the original. Delete the credits and the wordart layers. Increase canvas size to 700 by 700. (Image/Canvas size) Be sure the middle arrow is selected. Flood fill the bg (Raster 1) layer with white.

Select the black half circle layer in your layer palette, then get your magic wand and click on the black half circle to select it. Copy and paste the close-up tube as a new layer and position her face into the circle. Go to Selections/Invert and then hit delete on your keyboard. Now go up to Effects/Plugins/Xero/Radiance and use these settings:
Strangeness 112
Charm 137
Truth 128
Beauty 255
Decrease this tube layer by 50%.

What I done to get the quote on the rectangle straight is copy this layer and paste it as a new image. I then used my Raster Deform tool to straighten the rectangle vertically. Then I used my pixel font and typed my quote being sure to align it into the rectangle. Then convert the text to a raster layer. I then copied and pasted the text into my working image and used my raster deform tool to position it into the rectangle in my image.

Now you should paste your elements from your kit into your working image. Give them a slight drop shadow once positioned and sized. I normally use my Raster deform tool for resizing so I can get the exact size I want. Once you have all elements in place, merge the three star layers together and then duplicate this layer twice for a total of three layers. With the bottom or top star layer selected (where you start is your choice), go to Effects/Plugins/dsb flux/Bright Noise and use these settings:
Intensity 40
Direction-check Mix
(on the remaining two layers, simply increase the intensity by 10 for each layer)

NOTE: To make the lantern appear to be hanging off of the left rectangle, duplicate this tube layer and place one underneath the left rectangle layer. On the lantern on the top use your eraser tool to erase parts of the handle to make it appear to be hanging.

Copy and paste your tube into your working image. Go to Effects/Plugins/Eye Candy 5.0/Perspective Shadow and use these settings:
Settings tab:
Leave default settings
Basic tab:
Check Perspective Shadow
Center offset direction 309
Center offset distance 10.40
Overall opacity 37
Overall Blur 9.41
Perspective Blur 12.10
Fade out 23
Shadow color is black
Check Mask Selection

In your layer palette add a Raster layer above the bg layer (Raster 1). You can apply your star brushes on this layer.

Add your name. For the optional use of Eye Candy 4000 you can add the black halo around your name. Go to Effects/Plugins/Eye Candy 4000/Gradient Glow and use these settings:
Basic tab:
Glow Width 3.0
Soft Corners 25
Overall Opacity 100
Check Draw outside selection
Color Tab:
Black Halo
Opacity 100
Add a slight drop shadow to your name.

New Tutorial: Faith, Hope & Courage PTU

This tutorial was written by me on October 21st, 2010. Any resemblance to any other tutorial is pure coincidence. Please do not claim this tutorial as your own or post to any other blog or website without permission from me. It was written for PSP 9, but should be compatible for any version. And it was written with the assumption that you have a working knowledge of PSP and it's components.

What you will need to accomplish this tutorial: This beautiful scrapkit by the amazingly talented Artmama called Pink Ink that you can purchase HERE at Exquisite Scraps. Thank you Artmama for this wonderful kit. Also from Artmama, you will need her template #20, which you can find on her blog HERE. Once again, thank you Artmama for your generosity. Mask by Essexgirl, Stencilled Circle 1, which you can find HERE along with all of her other masks. You will need to put this mask into your PSP mask folder. The Xero plugin found HERE. This plugin will need to be installed into your plugin folder in PSP. Tube of choice, I used the fantastic art of Ismael Rac. This tube is one of a number of free tubes that can be found on his site HERE. You must still have a license to use this tube which can be requested from his site. Please DO NOT use his tubes without a license. Fonts of choice, I used some of my favorite fonts. One I used for wordart is free called Kingsthings Keltika which you can find HERE. The other is Ekaterina Velikaya which can be downloaded HERE.

Without further ado, let's get started.

Once you have opened PSP, open Artmama's template #20, duplicate (Shift + D) and then close the original. Resize your canvas to 700 by 700 (Image/Canvas Size) Be sure the middle Placement arrow is checked and you are resizing the pixel dimensions. Delete the layers with her copyright and the word art. (NOTE: if you are not using the song lyrics, you can delete the copyright for those.)

You will now open the elements and papers you wish to use in the scrapkit as well as your tube. You will need the standing tube and the large tube. (They come together in the download) You can use my image as a reference for the elements and papers I used.

In your layer palette, select the Circle Glitter Layer and then go to Adjust/Hue & Saturation/Colorize and use these settings: Hue 255 and Saturation 191.

Next in your layer palette, select the Circle bg layer and add a slight drop shadow, about 40% with 1 offset Vertical and Horizontal. You will also do a negative (-1) offset Vertical and Horizontal.

Again in your layer palette select the circle layer. Go to Selections/Select All/Selections/Float/Selections/Defloat. Copy and paste paper of choice INTO the selection. Deselect. (Ctrl + d).

Back to layer palette and select the rectangular glitter layer. Go to Adjust/Hue & Saturation/Colorize and use these settings: Hue 255 Saturation 73.

In your layer palette select rectangular back layer and go to Selections/Select All/Selections/Float/Selections/Defloat. Copy and Paste paper of choice INTO selection. (If your paper choice does not look good pasting into selection, simply paste your paper as a layer and then go back to Selections/Invert and hit delete on your keyboard.)

On each right and left square glitter layers go to Adjust/Hue & Saturation and use these settings: Hue 255 Saturation 191.
On the right square frame layer go to Selections/Select All/Selections/Float/Selections/Defloat. Copy and paste the large tube as a new layer and move it so that the breasts are centered in the selection. Deselect and then duplicate and mirror this layer. You will have to drag this layer above the left square frame in your layer palette. For each of these two new layers go to Effects/Plugins/Xero/Radiance and use these settings: Strangeness 155, Charm 67, Truth 128, and Beauty 222.

Almost done...at this time, go back to layer palette and select the bg layer. Add a new Raster layer and flood fill with black. Now to add the mask...go to Layers/Load/Save mask and apply the sg_stencilled circle 1 mask. Merge group layers.

Add your wordart and name and then copy and paste the tube. Go to Effects/Plugins/Xero and apply the same settings as before.

This tutorial was written by me on Dec 29, 2009, any resemblance to any other tutorial is pure coincidence. Please do not post this tutorial to any other site without permission from me. I wrote this tutorial with the assumption that you have a working knowledge of PSP and its tools, as well as Animation Shop. I use PSP 9, but any version should be compatible.

Things you will need to accomplish this tutorial include PSP of course with Animation Shop, this beautiful kit by Crystal's Designs called Twilight that you can purchase HERE. Thank you Crystal for the use of this kit. She has some beautiful kits, be sure to check them all out at My Scrappin Box. All those amazing designers there have some wonderful kits, check out them all while you're there. Tell them I sent ya :). You will need this gorgeous mask by Sabre (SL_FairyPortalMask2Sabre) that you can find on his site HERE at The Quill & Parchment, thanks Sabre for your amazing work, you rock. He has some fabulous kits and masks and tubes as well, the best part is his work is free. If you aren't aware of his blog, you should be. You will need an image of your choice, I included the image of Jacob from Twilight that I used in the supplies. The plugins you will need are dsb flux and Eye Candy 4000. The font I used is called Blackadder ITC.

Supplies

Okay, let's get this party started. If you haven't already installed your plugin, do that before opening PSP and put your mask into your PSP mask folder. Now in PSP start a new white 750 by 750 image. We'll resize later. Add a new layer in your layer palette and flood fill it with black. Resize it by 90% and apply your mask SL_FairyPortalMask2Sabre. Merge the group of mask layers.

At this point you will open the Jacob image supplied, or your preferred image into PSP and go up to Image and down to Greyscale, back up to Image and Increase Color Depth to 16 Million Colors. Copy and paste this image as a new layer on top of your mask layer. In your layer palette, hide this layer.

You will now paste the red frame on top of your image layer and use your deform tool to rotate it by 90 Degrees, then paste the black frame on top of the red frame layer. You will need to resize these frame layers, I always use my raster deform tool for precise sizing. You want to be sure these frame layers are centered on your mask layer. Once you have the frame layers in place, open your image layer. You will notice you may have some of the image layer peeking outside the frame layers, simply use your eraser tool to erase any unwanted parts of the image. Or if the image isn't large enough, you can also use your raster deform tool to make it larger.

Now, you will copy and paste any elements you want to use from the kit and place them around your frames. You can use my tag as a reference if you wish to use the same elements I used. To move the vines in different positions, again, I used my raster deform tool. (yeah, yeah, it's one of my favorite PSP tools, that and the UNDO button.) Add you a slight drop shadow to your frames and elements.

For the Wolf Pendant, I colorized it to match with my frame. Go to Adjust/Hue and Saturation/Colorize and use these settings. Hue=0 and Saturation-204.

For the wolf eyes and the moon clouded elements with Jacob's name, I resized them to fit with, guess what, the raster deform tool and for Jacob's name in my layer palette, I took the opacity down to 86%.

Now add your name, go to Effects/Plugins/Eye Candy 4000/Gradient Glow and use these settings in the Basic Tab use these settings: Glow Width=3, Soft Corners=25 and Overall Opacity=95; in the Color tab use the Fat setting and apply this effect. Go back to Effects/Gradient Glow in the Basic Tab use these settings: Glow Width=7.52, Soft Corners=25 and Overall Opacity=89; in the Color Tab use the Black Halo effect. Apply these settings and then add a drop shadow by going to Effects/3D effects/Drop Shadow and use these settings: Offset Vertical=2, Horizontal=2, Attributes opacity=77 and Blur=10.

Now for the fun part, the animation. In your layer palette find your red frame. It will make things simple if you named all of your layers. I never take the time to do this...lol. Anyway, duplicate this red frame layer twice for a total of three red frame layers. Hide the two top layers and make sure you are on the bottom red frame layer and then go to Effects/Plugins/dsb flux/Bright Noise and use these settings: Intensity=25, Direction check Mix and apply. For the two remaining layers, just simply increase the Intensity by 5.

Now open Animation Shop. Go back to PSP. Hide the two top red frame layers and hold down Shift+Ctrl+C to Copy Merged, then go back to Animation Shop and hit Control+V to paste as a new animation. Back to PSP, hide the bottom red frame layer and open the middle red frame layer, Shift+Ctrl+C and go back to Animation Shop, this time hit Shift+Ctrl+L to paste as next frame, do the same for the last red frame layer. You should have three animation frames.

Now resize to fit your wants or needs and save as a .gif and you're done. I hope you enjoyed my tutorial. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or it there are any broken links.

New Tutorial: On Lover's Lips

It is written with the assumption that you have a working knowledge of PSP and its tools.

Things you will need to do this tutorial include PSP, a mask of your choice, I used an Essex Girl mask, sg_quilt and lattice that you can find HERE on her site along with tons of her gorgeous masks. I've included the mask in the supplies. You will need this beautiful kit by Foxy's Designs, Delicate Ways. You can find this kit at her stores HERE or HERE, she has a lot of amazing kits. I recommend her work highly. You will also need a romantic type image. I included the one I used in the supplies. I simply done a Google search for "Romantic Images." If this image belongs to you and you want credit here, just leave me a message in my chat box. You will need Alien Skin Eye Candy 5.0/Impact. You can find the trial version HERE. A tube of choice, I used the beautiful art of Zindy Nielsen, you can find her tubes on her site HERE. Do not use her tubes without a license. I used a one of her free to use tubes called Temporary Peace. Brushes of choice. And you will need a font of choice, I used TheNautiGirl which is a ROB font.

SUPPLIES

Okay, let's get started. First be sure to place your mask into your PSP mask folder. I will be placing my tutorials to a new site once I get set up, but still have my old tuts on Funhouse. I will have some tuts on how to do things in PSP such as how to put masks into PSP...lol. Once you have done this, open your kit into the PSP browser and decide which elements you wish to use. For the elements I used, you can look at my tag for reference. You will need to resize according to how large you want your tag. I use my raster deform tool for precise sizing.

Now you will open a new white image in PSP as large as you wish to make your tag, I usually start large so I can see everything good and resize later. Copy and paste paper of choice from the kit as a new layer and resize it so it fills about 85% of the canvas, apply mask. Copy and paste the Romantic Image on top of the mask. Use your eraser tool to erase any parts of the image that sticks out from the frame.

Next you will go to Adjust/Hue and Saturation/Colorize and adjust the coloring of the Romantic Image to match the colors of your paper, but use a lighter hue. Then go to your Layers Palette and set the Blend Mode on Soft Light. Copy and paste your tube on top of the Romantic Image and reduce the opacity to 34% and set the Blend Mode to Luminance.

Now you will copy and paste the elements you wish to use from the kit and place them around to your liking or use my image for reference. You will use a light drop shadow on each. Here are my settings: Offset Vertical = 1, Horizontal = 1, Opacity = 47%, Blur = 8 and the Color is black. For the elements you wish to use a Perspective Shadow on, go to Effects/Plugins/AlienSkin Eye Candy 5/Impact/Perspective Shadow and use these settings: In the Settings tab - Long Perspective Shadow in Back. In the Basics tab you will check Perspective Shadow, Center Offset direction = 192, Center Offset Distance = 9.13, Overall Opacity = 32, Overall Blur = 14.48, Perspective Blur = 16.49, Fade Out = 14, check Mask Selection and the color will be Black.

Now add brushes of choice and your words and name and we are done. I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and hopefully learned something. Feel free to contact me for any questions you have.

Wow, I hadn't realized just how long I have been out of the loop...Life sure has a way of flying by doesn't it? First, I had been pretty sick, then had some personal issues at home and was just pretty much burned out. Wow, what a great movie...if you like romance with a twist. Just seen it last night and I recommend it. Don't expect gore if that's what appeals to you as it is limited in this movie. But I myself liked the storyline and the characters were great, especially Edward Cullen...what an amazing vampire, and not at all uneasy on the eyes. A must see.
